Aminata is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Genetics of Complex Traits Group at the University of Exeter, working within the “Pregnancy and Fetal Growth Genomics” subgroup led by Professor Rachel Freathy.

She has a strong background in epidemiology and biostatistics. Her PhD research at the University of Paris focused on the genetic and early biological determinants of adiposity rebound, an early marker of future adiposity, using data from the French birth cohorts EDEN and ELFE. Through this work, she developed solid expertise in growth modelling and quantitative analysis of longitudinal data.

Aminata joins the Genetics of Complex Traits Group in 2023. Her current work explores the genetic data of babies, mothers, and fathers in relation to gestational diabetes. She is actively involved in European research consortia dedicated to the genetics of gestational diabetes.

Research interests:

Maternal health during pregnancy, early postnatal health, growth and predictors.
