Ms Joanne McDermid

Joanne has over 12 years of experience in dementia care research. Her work focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of non-pharmacological interventions to improve quality of life for people living with dementia in long-term care. Her doctoral research included assessing the impact of evidence-based psychosocial approaches, with a particular emphasis on leveraging digital technology to support scalable and sustainable models of person-centred care. She served as Principal Investigator on a large RCT involving 149 care homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the adaptation and delivery of research under exceptional circumstances.
